NO WAR ON IRAN

Over the past week and a half, the United States has assassinated General Qassim Suleimani, Iran’s top ranking military official WHO WAS IN IRAQ TO HELP EASE TENSIONS BETWEEN IRAQ AND SAUDI ARABIA, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, a commander of the Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq. The same day they attempted to assassinate Abdul Reza Shahlai, a financier and key commander in Iran’s elite Quds Force who has been active in Yemen ACCORDING TO THE WASHINGTON POST.
Iran responded to this with a targeted attack on a military base in Iraq, avoiding casualties thanks to Iran’s prior warning to Iraq that it was about to strike, but completely wiping out the base itself.
On the same day this happened, Iran mistakenly shot down a Ukrainian commercial airplane, killing everyone on board. It has since apologized and arrested the operator responsible for this. Contrast this with GEORGE H.W. BUSH’S RESPONSE to the revelation that THE U.S. SHOT DOWN IRAN AIR FLIGHT 655 IN 1988, stating “I won’t apologize for the United States, I don’t care what the facts are.” Shooting down civilian planes is not an Uncommon tactic for the U.S., as seen in the CIA’S ROLE IN SHOOTING DOWN FIFTEEN CIVILIAN PLANES IN PERU as part of the War on Drugs between 1995 and 2001.
The US has been angling for war with Iran for decades, and it’s important to understand both the history of Iran as a nation and the history of US imperialism and British colonialism that has been at play in the region, so I’ve decided to compile a list of resources similar to what I did to provide context for the Venezuelan coup.
